Software

For this project, we will require some projection mapping software. I asked a friend for some advice about what was the best to use and experiement with. He is the owner of Boxcat and works at Comix, providing visuals for artists.

The first i knew about was VVVV which was taugh last year in the same class. We werent taught how to use it for projection mapping but im sure i would be able to find tutorials in order to do it.

The next, i was told about by my friend. This software is HeavyM. It is free software that is very popular to use and is also fairly simple. Again, this is something i would have to look for tutorials for.

Another is a recent release but does require purchase. Notch has a simalar interface to VVVV in which it uses nodes to create the visuals. Because of the purchase price, i will be unable to use it for the project but i will still look into how it is used.

The final one is Touch Designer. Again, this is a node based program that allows you to create visuals in real time. It is also free to download.

There are various softwares out there that can be used for projection mapping and i will be looking in to each of them in more depth so i can decide which will be best for our project.
