I thought i would email a few visual companies to see if they had any technical specifications from old projection mapping events for us to look at. This could give us a base to work with and also show us a few extra things we could throw in. As of yet, i am waiting to hear back from one place in regards to my questions.

The idea of the project, is to create something that would be in car dealerships. Its to change the user experience of buying a new car. Rather than going into a dealership and buying a car from a catalogue or picking what you want from a website, the user will be able to have a physical representation of the car they will be getting. As well as this, we also thought about ways to make the experience a bit more personal. This would involve the ability to design your own graphics to go on part of a car. I mocked up a quick concept to represent what we would like to create.

The ability to customise the vehcile you buy has been around for a while. I am uncertain of a time but it has since moved on from picking what you wanted from a brochure in a dealership. You can go onto a car brands website and build and order the car you want whilst viewing a render of what the car will look like. To get an idea of how it worked, i went to Fords website and went to the Build & Price option.

For this project, we will require some projection mapping software. I asked a friend for some advice about what was the best to use and experiement with. He is the owner of Boxcat and works at Comix, providing visuals for artists. The first i knew about was VVVV which was taugh last year in the same class. We werent taught how to use it for projection mapping but im sure i would be able to find tutorials in order to do it. The next, i was told about by my friend. This software is HeavyM. It is free software that is very popular to use and is also fairly simple. Again, this is something i would have to look for tutorials for. Another is a recent release but does require purchase. Notch has a simalar interface to VVVV in which it uses nodes to create the visuals. Because of the purchase price, i will be unable to use it for the project but i will still look into how it is used. The final one is Touch Designer. Again, this is a node based program that allows you to create visual...
